A 2016 New York Times article stated that we thank people only once for every twenty opportunities. That seems like a lot of missed opportunities.

We’re well into the new year and thanking people has been on my mind. There are reminders everywhere that I have so much for which to be grateful. In my work, I see the caregivers I work with and my colleagues perform many acts of genuine kindness every day. I see them going above and beyond, demonstrating calmness under challenging situations. These people are heroes in my book, and I appreciate them so much.

There’s little most of us won’t do for someone when we know our efforts will be valued and appreciated.

I’m not one to make a New Year’s resolution, but this year, I want to be more intentional in saying thank you. The patient care I strive for wouldn’t be possible without my team, and I’m grateful for them. Let’s all thank the people who make our loved ones’ lives brighter.

Thank you!
